Marsha Kay Ferris, 73, formerly of Galesburg Illinois, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Sullivan County Hospital, Sullivan Indiana.

  She was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Marcele (Holloway) Ferris and a sister Debra Dee (Ferris) Banta.

  She is survived by brothers James G Ferris, Brownsboro, Alabama and Daniel Robert (Lynn) Ferris, Lawrenceville Georgia, sister Jeri Lynn (Ferris) Alsman, Sullivan Indiana, and Irvin Banta (brother-in-law), Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and a great-great-nephew; along with many relatives and friends residing in Knox County Illinois and throughout the World.  

  Marsha attended the Abingdon Illinois schools and graduated from Abingdon High School with the Class of 1967. She attended the Institute of Paralegal Training, Roosevelt U, Chicago and graduated in 1979.  Marsha served in the Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group as a Trust and Fiduciary Specialist and other roles for 41 years. She started with First Galesburg National Bank in 1967 as a secretary in the Farm Management Department.  In the late 1970s, Marsha became a Trust Officer and focused her attention in the administration of estates.  She shifted her focus in 2002 to a relationship management role within Investment Management and Trust and directed her efforts in meeting the financial needs of a variety of clients. Marsha received the Silver Award for Trust Officers from the Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group, and retired in 2009. She moved to Sullivan, Indiana in 2015 to reside with her sister, Jeri. 

  Marsha was involved with the Altrusa Club and a Lay Leader of the Faith United Methodist Church of Galesburg and later attended Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. 

Marsha was a farmer’s daughter, raised on a farm north of Abingdon, off Rt 41. She inherited her father’s wit and his ability to never meet a stranger. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word on her lips. She brightened a room with her presence which she inherited from her Mother.

  Cremation was accorded.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, the graveside service and celebration of life for Marsha has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for the spring of 2023.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sullivan County Public Library, 1005 Crowder Street, Sullivan IN 47882, or Galesburg Public Library, 40 E.
