The City of Monmouth Department directors are currently preparing their budget requests to submit to City Council. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher says the budget looks stable for next year:
“I would say stable. I don’t foresee any significant cuts in services. Particularly with the shortage of staff right now that we have, we have been able to save some on wages, on compensations. We have some vacant positions that we still need to fill. We don’t have a full complement of dispatchers and police officers and that type of thing, like every other employer in the region. We are having difficulty recruiting and hiring for various vacancies that we have in the organizations.”
The City of Monmouth’s Fiscal Year 2023 will begin May 1st.
