Boy Scout Troop #336 Roseville Christmas Spirit of Lights is back at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Ginger Byers, one of the organizers of the event, shares the display started in 2020 during the pandemic as a creative fundraiser for the troop and has now grown to an annual event:
“We needed a fundraiser so that we could pay for some of our campouts and things like that. The biggest thing that we use our fundraising money for is we are going on a seven day trek to Philmont, New Mexico. They have 22 miles worth of land. I think it is over 100,000 acres that they have and our boys are going to go on a seven day trek with their troop leader. We have an old troop leader that moved and actually works in Philmont now and he is going to meet them out there and go on the trek with them as well. It also pays for all of our food when we go camping. It pays for all the awards that the kids get and it also helps with being a boy scout. We have dues that are due every year and our organization pays for two-thirds of everyone’s cost.”
The Roseville Christmas Spirit of Lights gets underway Friday, November 25th and will be held weekly on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30 to 9 pm through Saturday, December 24th. Cost is $5 per car to drive through the display.
