GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team will look to earn its fourth trip to nationals in the last six seasons at this weekend’s Region IV Division II tournaments.

The Chargers (23-17) are the No. 3 seed from District A and will face Kankakee (5-22), the No. 6 seed from District B, at 11 a.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals of the District A tournament. The Chargers and Cavaliers did not face each other during the regular season. The winner advances to the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday. The championship match is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday.

All matches in this weekend’s Region IV District A and District B tournaments will be hosted by Lake County and streamed at www.clclancers.com/watchlive. The winners of each tournament qualify for the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship from Nov. 17-19 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Should the top four seeds from one district advance to the championship round of both district tournaments, the title matches would be played according to seed. In that scenario, Sandburg would play District A No. 2 Rock Valley, and No. 1 seed McHenry County would face No. 4 Sauk Valley.
