Sarah Isabelle Shrum, age 22, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 in a traffic accident near Stronghurst.  She was born November 12, 1999 in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Barbara Smith Shrum.

Sarah was currently employed in the maintenance department at J.I. Case in Burlington.  She had previously worked at Great River Medical Center, Perkins, and several other area businesses.  She had a supporting business for District 18 ABATE of Iowa known as “Sarah’s Sweets”. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her dad, and riding motorcycles with her dad and grandpa. She loved listening to music, painting by the numbers, and wood burning crafts. She also loved maintaining the Lighthouse for others, and most importantly, loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her parents: Harold and Barbara Shrum of Stronghurst, her grandparents: James and Annie Shrum of Keithsburg, IL, one sister: Hanna Shrum and her fiancé Tim Sirovy of Burlington, IA, four aunts: Alma Hull, Mary Smith, Roberta Smith, Julia Love, one uncle: Frank Portillo, and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Charles and Alma Smith, and three uncles: Bobby Smith, Richard Smith and Jim Hull.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2022, followed by a Celebration Of Life service at 4:00 p.m. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.  Cremation will be accorded following the service.  A memorial fund has been established to assist the family with expenses.  Please visit Sarah’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
