Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 20, 2022:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is girls basketball players, junior Carmyn Huston and sophomore Tatianna Talivaa. Carmyn and Tatianna were both named to the ROWVA/Ridgewood All-Thanksgiving Tournament team. Carmyn averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds, while Tatianna averaged 4.3 assists and 2.5 steals. Those totals helped their team to a tournament championship.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Ava Anderson. Ava’s solid ROWVA/Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament week ended with a fantastic performance in her team’s 7th place game win over Ridgewood. She poured in 18 points in the victory. Among those 18 points was four, 3-pointers.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Shelby Bowman. Shelby was named to the ROWVA/Ridgewood All-Thanksgiving Tournament team for her amazing performance in four games. She averaged 30 points per game, shooting 80% from the free throw line. Shelby helped the Heat earn a spot in the championship game of the tournament.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Syriah Boyd. Syriah has gotten her season off to a great start, with a pair of solid games in the Galesburg Thanksgiving Shootout. In a win over Freeport and a loss to Washington, she was close to a double-double on the stat sheet. Syriah had 8 points and 8 boards in the loss and 9 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Brook Pieper. Brook was named to the ROWVA/Ridgewood All-Thanksgiving Tournament team after her performance during her team’s 3rd place finish. Brook averaged 15 points a game, hitting three, 3-pointers and going 11-17 from the free throw line.
