Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 30, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Elise Blaesing. Elise had a big hand in a regional semifinal victory over Canton. She led the Titans in assists and digs, with 8 and 12, respectively. Elise also led the Titans in assists in a loss to a solid Macomb Bomber squad in the regional title game.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Addison Gillen. Addison had fantastic matches in the two Red Storm wins in the class 1A regional tournament last week. She had 13 digs against Abingdon-Avon in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals the following night, Addison posted 16 more digs and added 7 kills and 3 service aces.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Kaiden Droste. Kaiden added to his amazing rushing totals on the season with a extraordinary playoff game against South Beloit. He rushed for 383 yards on just 10 carries. Kaiden took 7 of those 10 carries into the endzone, giving him 46 rushing touchdowns so far on the season.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is girls swimmers, freshman Lily Furrow and junior Allie Warren. Both Lily and Allie are four-time Western Big Six Conference champions. At the conference championship meet last week, they each swam a leg on two winning relay teams. Allie also claimed the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM, while Lily touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week. This week the spotlight shines on senior volleyball player, Ailexa Hunter. Ailexa had a great all-around night in a narrow loss to United in the class 1A regional tournament last week. She smashed 6 kills and posted three blocks. Ailexa also hustled her way to 16 digs.
