Gladys V. Bigger, age 72, of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of the Hopper community, near Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Oak View Nursing & Rehab Center in Burlington. She was born September 6, 1950 in Hopper, the daughter of George and Viola Bundy Waterman.
Gladys was a homemaker, and lived most of her life in Hopper. She then moved to Fort Madison, Iowa in 1998, and to Burlington six years ago. She loved spending time with her family and playing Bingo.
Survivors include two daughters: Candy (Shane) Van Dorin of Omaha, NE, and Sandy Ferry of Burlington, IA, two sons: Michael Bigger of Fort Madison, IA, and George Bigger, six grandchildren: Cassandra Ferry, Shantel Hendrix, Andrew Brobston, Darsea Glenn, Cody Van Dorin, and Jayme Bigger, several great grandchildren, two sisters: Edna Keever of Gladstone, IL, Georgia (Ronald) Walker of Burlington, and one brother: Ernie (Betty) Waterman of Stronghurst, IL. She was preceded in death by one son: Brace Bigger Jr., one grandson, and three sisters: Edith Crawford, Kate Waterman, and Pearl Mabe.
The funeral for Ms. Bigger will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler and Shane Van Dorin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopper Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Banks & Beals.
