The Monmouth-Roseville Titans varsity boys basketball team was back in action on Friday, hosting their third home competition in a row. This time around they welcomed the state ranked Eagles of Columbia. The game started fast, with the Titans forcing multiple turnovers, but in the end Columbia was too much to handle, as they took home their 8th win of the season.

The Titans defense opened the first quarter forcing 5 turnovers, but the offense was unable to capitalize off of them. Columbia would hold a 14-4 lead after the first 8 minutes of play, then they started to pull away in the second quarter, on the back of 5 first half threes from guard Dillon Murphy. The Eagles went into the halftime break up 38-15. Another 20 point quarter by Columbia in the third drove the lead up to over 30 points, and would institute a running clock in the fourth. A sped up fourth quarter would eventually bring the final score to 62-31, in favor of Columbia.

In the statbook for the Titans, Nico Avendano led in scoring with 11 points, while Leo Mahoney added 5. The Titans drop to 5-5 but get a quick turn around, as they take part in the Great Western Shootout on Saturday morning at Abingdon-Avon high school. They will be taking on the Ridgewood Spartans.
