Pritzker Pushing for Assault Weapons Ban

Governor JB Pritzker is ready to sign an assault weapons ban if lawmakers pass one in the upcoming lame duck session. Pritzker is watching a proposal from Democrat Bob Morgan and says he’s supported past gun legislation from him.

“There is a lot that has gone into this. It isn’t just that the sponsor has written something and thrown it in the hopper. As you know the legislative process can be a grinding one that requires a lengthier look at each of it, but I favor the legislation that he has put forward and hopeful that we can get it passed.”

The lame duck session for the state’s lawmakers is scheduled for the first week of January.
