Reita J. Furnald, age 70, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 5:45 PM on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Reita was born April 6, 1952 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Charles E. and Doris (Booten) Sebastian. On March 24, 1990 she married Delbert Furnald in Oquawka, IL and he is surviving. She was previously married to Mike Hopkins. Reita attended school in Gladstone, Union High School, and Southeastern Community College in West Burlington where she attained her Associates Degree in Nursing.

Reita worked as a nurse for Dr. S.C. Lindo in Biggsville for 24 years until he closed his practice in retirement. She then worked at Henry Hill Correctional Facility in Galesburg for 14 years until her retirement. Reita enjoyed gardening and her flowers. As a hobby, she enjoyed working with glass and many friends received glass works as gifts from Reita. She enjoyed watching and listening to her son’s bands. Mostly, she loved her grandchildren, family, and her many friends made throughout the years. 

Reita is survived by her husband Delbert at home, one daughter, Amanda (Amos) Woodrum of Ogden, IL, three sons, Todd (Mindi) Hopkins of West Burlington, IA, Chad (Jodi) Furnald of Danville, IA, and Dusty (Allison) Furnald also of Danville, IA. She is also survived by her brother, Byron (Alice) Sebastian, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Reita is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Terry Siens, and one son, John Hopkins.

As were Reita’s wishes, cremation is being accorded. A Celebrations of Reita’s Life will be held and announced at a later date. A memorial will be established and announced at that time.
