Virginia “Nina” Ann Castle, 81 of St. Augustine, passed away at 11:01 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born July 13, 1941 in Galesburg, the daughter of Orville and Geraldine (Curtis) DeJaynes.  Her parents preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim “Peckerhead” DeJaynes, Ron DeJaynes and Billy DeJaynes, her son-in-law, Keith Rand, mother-in-law, Josephine Wagy and granddaughter, Angela Rand.

Virginia married Michael Castle on June 29, 1982 in Las Vegas and he survives.  Also surviving is one daughter, Jeri Rand of Carthage; one son, Danny (Joann) Moore of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brandy Rand (Jorge Varela), Brittney (Cole) Carson, Shannon Hall, Wade (Kendra) Bryan, Haley Bryan and Hillary (Caleb) Parker; twelve great-grandchildren, Cyrus Rawlings, Shaylee Rawlings, Darius Hall, Roni Hall, Jaevyon Bess, Jaeceon Bess, Jaecia Bess, Halo Bess, Easton Bryan, Hadley Bryan, Elsie Brohman and Oliver Varela; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1959.  She lived most of her married life in St. Augustine.  Virginia worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg, but will be most remembered as one of the hustling waitresses at Club 41, where she worked for several years.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed bowling in her younger days.  Her most treasured times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be accorded.  A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
