In an effort to address the teacher shortage, the Education Career Pathways grant through the Regional Office of Education #33 is intended to work with high school students considering becoming educators, explains Superintendent Jodi Scott:

“With that grant, we currently recruit high school students to go through an education program, sometimes the early childhood and sometimes the K-12 program. They have the opportunity to take a few general education classes around education with Carl Sandburg College and then work through the education pathways and hopefully from there go straight into a program to become an educator.”

In addition to focusing on teachers, the Regional Office of Education is aiding in the placement of paraprofessionals in the local school districts, plus offer trainings to secure short-term substitutes.
