Sharon Kay Murphy/Haffner, 76, of Galesburg, died at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

Sharon was born to Ivan and Doris Murphy/Dunn on November 27, 1946.  She was raised in London Mills and attended London Mills school and Valley High School at Fairview, before the new school was built. She passed away at home, surrounded by people who love her.  She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Sister, and Son.  She was married to Bill Stancomb and Ted Sedgewick. She married her love, Frank O. Haffner, on March 10, 2007.  They enjoyed all of their travels including their very favorites:  Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park, Alaska, and Hawaii. 

Sharon had two sons, Gary Lynn Stancomb, who is in heaven and has been waiting to see her, and Craig Stancomb and wife, Ranee, who live in East Peoria.  Sharon’s first grandson, Waylon and wife Morgan, gave their family a great-granddaughter, Kandace.  They live in Wataga, IL. Her second grandson, Benjamin Stancomb and Emma live in East Mankado, MN and Ben works in building trades. Her third grandson, Gary and wife, Lindsay, live in Comfrey, MN with two great-grandsons, Maxwell Stancomb and Lincon Stancomb. Sharon adored all of “her boys” and soaked up every second with her great-grandchildren. Her step-daughter, Valerie and husband Andrew Roseberry, live in Oak Harbor, WA.  They delighted Sharon and Frank with three grandchildren, Rory, Abigail, and Alaine. Sharon worked for J and J Dog Supplies for 21 years and enjoyed going to work every day. She was a member of the Knoxville First Christian church. Her happiest times were with her family just being together.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to Knoxville First Christian Church or OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
