Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 15, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior boys wrestler, Jay Raymond. Wrestling at 160 pounds, Jay took 4th place at the Kewanee Invitational. He earned four wins against just one loss for the tournament. Three of his four wins came by way of pinfall. Earlier this season, Jay placed 6th at the PORTA Invite, going (3-2) on the day.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior boys wrestler, Devon Bushong. Devon earned a 5th place medal out of 10 wrestlers in his 195 pound weight class at the Kewanee Invitational. He went (2-2) on the day, getting his two wins by pinfall. Devon’s only losses in his tournament were to the 3rd and 4th place finishers.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week. This week the spotlight shines on senior girls bowler, Allie Strack. Allie had a fantastic day at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational. Her 6-game series of 965 was good enough for 8th place overall. Allie’s single-game high of 200 earned her a 9th place individually.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is freshman girls bowler, Maddie Fowler. Maddie had the top 6-game, 3-game and two of the top four single game scores at the Silver Streak Invitational. She rolled a 1234 6-game, 677 3-game and single game scores of 252 and 223. Maddie’s 252 was the best score in the tournament.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Kellen Hook. Since the calendar turned to 2023, the Tornadoes have been on a roll, as has Kellen. In four games last week, he led team in scoring at 11.5 points, 3 assists and 2 steals per game as his team won three of four games.
