Later in the week, Mattie was 3-for-4 from the three point line in a loss to state ranked PORTA/AC Central.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Cameron Anderson. Cameron had a great game in a win against Ridgewood at the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament. The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Tyler Neumann. Tyler has become a consistent scorer for the Heat as the season starts to wind down. He led the team in scoring with 11 points in a narrow loss to a red-hot Stark County ballclub. Earlier this season, Tyler had a personal-high of 15 points in a win over Galva.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys wrestler, Rocky Almandarez. Rocky went (3-1) at the highly competetive Bob Mitton Invitational at Orion High School. Among his 3 wins, he earned two pins and a technical fall victory in the other. Rocky’s only loss of the tournament came in the championship match, giving him a 2nd place medal.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys bowler, Tyler Condreay. Tyler qualified for the sectional tournament for the second straight year. His 20th place at Dixon regionals earned him a spot in the Rockford Guilford sectional tournament.
