Yes System of Care receives grant

Stacy Brown, Vice President of Behavior Health Services at Bridgeway is reporting a grant was received for the Human Service Council serving the Knox, Warren and Henderson Counties area. The program is called the Yes System of Care and focuses on serving youth and families locally. Referrals typically come from the school system:

“We get a lot of referrals through the school system and through other social service agencies, and those are the primary people that we are trying to help is the referrals coming in. So if somebody in the schools notices a youth who is having significant problems, and it can be in any area, it doesn’t necessarily just have to be mental health or substance use. Lets say that we know that their family is having transportation issues, there’s a food disparity, there’s a housing issue, you know if we have a homeless family And so the referral comes in to YES, we very similar to human service council, we have all these providers sitting at the table and its really not a wrong door approach.”

Brown adds when they started the system of care a lot of referrals were for 16-19 year olds who were couch surfing and had no guardian or parental oversight at home. After meeting with the teens, the Yes System of Care was able to stabilize the youth to be set up independently, at a care home or at a foster home.
