Harlan Named CSC Academic All-District

Monmouth College women’s basketball senior Lily Harlan (Washington, Illinois) was named Division III Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday. Harlan will now be on the Academic All-America ballot, with the team announced on March 15. The award criteria balances athletic accomplishments, academic accomplishments and extra-curricular activities.

Harlan, a chemistry major, has a 3.64 cumulative GPA and she posted a 3.86 GPA in the fall semester. She led the Scots on the court this season with ith 13.6 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. Harlan shot 35.7% from 3-point range and 74.4% from the free throw line while racking up 25 steals. Overall she led the Scots in minutes, field goals made, 3-pointers made, points and rebounds.

Harlan’s 13.6 ppg ranks 26th in school history for a single season. Harlan also ranks 25th on Monmouth’s career list at 10.4 ppg and she finished 24th in career free throw shooting (69.4%) and 25th in career 3-point shooting (33.1%).

Off the court, Harlan has earned the Dean’s Scholarship, the Robert H. Buchholz Scholarship, Dr. John W. Gibson Scholarship, Edward C. and Catherine D. Hodge Memorial Scholarship and Cline-Lofftus Foundation Scholarship. She has made the Dean’s List every semester at Monmouth and is also very involved in the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Harlan is a member of the American Chemistry Society and has worked on campus in the athletic training department.

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50% of their team games. Student-athletes are nominated by their own institution’s Sports Information Director and the awards are voted on by CSC members.

Harlan will be on the All-America ballot with first-, second- and third-team honorees announced March 15. The last time a Monmouth student-athlete was named a CSC/CoSIDA Academic All-American football player Matt Barnes in 2016. The Scots have had nine All-American honorees since 1983. The Scots had 10 student-athletes names Academic All-District in the fall seasons and the swimming awards will be announced next Tuesday.
