Monmouth City Council Drafting Land Use Ordinance for Ground Mounted Solar Panels

Share

A first reading was heard at the latest Monmouth City Council meeting on granting a special use variance for ground mounted solar panels at the Warren County YMCA. Before granting approval, City Council wanted to draft an ordinance to have guidelines and requirements in place for future projects, explains City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

“After some discussion, Council put the decision on this on advance. Council asked the administration to quickly create a solar panel ordinance, a land use ordinance. The Zoning Director, myself, and the City will be trying to draft something and bring it back to the City Council as quickly as possible.”

The granting on a special use variance for the placement of ground mounted solar panels will be further discussed at the next Monmouth City Council meeting.
