Robert Charles ‘Spike’ Miller, 65, of Galesburg Illinois, died at 9:55 am. Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Galesburg as a result of complications from an electrocution injury many years earlier that had left him with chronic circulatory and nerve damage.
Spike was born September 22, 1957, in Keokuk, Iowa to Robert Horace and Norma Jean ‘Sissy’ (Snow) Miller. He married Carroll Franklin in Palmyra in 1978, they divorced. He later married Jacqueline Jones in Rock Island, Illinois in 1991.
Spike is survived by Jackie; his daughter, Casey Neff of St. Peters Missouri; his son, Jonathon Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Cameryn Patterson, Carter Neff and Cash; his stepmother, Mary Miller of Galesburg, his half-sister, Amy Batchelder of Lenexa, Kansas, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We should make mention of his beloved dogs that he is preceded in death by, Buster, Jasmine, Bugs and Hoss.
He attended school in Palmyra and graduated in 1976. Spike worked in various industries, including area machine shops and foundries. He was an extremely intelligent and creative thinker, always looking for a better way to accomplish a task. He became interested as a child in the many and varied types of glass power & telegraph pole insulators, and throughout his life amassed a large collection of many different types, which were carefully cataloged.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Wataga Cemetery in Wataga, Illinois. His cousin, Brother David Lomax will officiate. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
