Robert Lane “Bob” Rogers, age 67, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 10:35 P.M. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at his home.

He was born on October 19, 1955 in Galesburg, the eldest son of Robert L. and Patsy A. (Dawson) Rogers, Sr. He made many wonderful memories growing up in the Galesburg area with his five siblings. During his younger years, he worked for several area gas stations. He would go on to work for Maytag, United Facilities, and KW Construction with his Uncle Kenny. He later worked for Quikstop. He married Cynthia S. Carrigan on September 5, 2020 at the Oaks Community Church in Dahinda. Two months after their marriage, Robert was diagnosed with terminal cancer, which was devastating to everyone who loved him. He fought valiantly to the very end.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Rogers of Galesburg; his two sons: Robert Rogers, III, of Abingdon, Illinois, Elias Rogers of Galesburg; three brothers: Alan of Abingdon, Russell and Scott, both of Galesburg; two sisters: Robbie (Juan) Guerrero of Tallahassee, Florida, Patti Jo Rogers of Galesburg; step-daughters: Katelyn (Tim Shotts) Carrigan of Knoxville, Illinois, Karen (Brandon) Upchurch of Kokomo, Indiana; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one uncle; two aunts; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; his uncle, Kenny Rogers; his aunt, Joyce Clarke; and his sister-in-law, Jackie Rogers.

More than anything else, Robert loved Jesus. His faith was very important to him. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and regularly attended the Oaks Community Church. Anyone that met Robert quickly learned that he was a diehard fan of both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs; he cheered on his favorite teams at every opportunity and amassed a vast collection of memorabilia over the years. Music was also something he was passionate about, and although he listened to almost every genre, he especially liked Led Zeppelin. He will be lovingly remembered for his soft heart and gentle spirit and the great and endearing love he had for his family. Robert never met a stranger and saw the good in every person he met. Many knew him from the Galesburg YMCA, where he had religiously attended the Silver Sneakers fitness program.

Robert’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the team at Hospice Compassus, who helped care for Robert in his final weeks, as well as the medical professionals that assisted him throughout his battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Watson Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg, with a Rosary Service to follow at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, Pastor Marty Briney officiating. Burial will follow at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. Online expressions of sympathy may be made through www.watsonthomas.com.
