Susan Eastburg, 79, of rural Galesburg, Illinois, died at home Monday, February 27, 2023 at 12:11 a.m.

Susan was born December 6, 1943 in “downtown” Dallas, Texas the daughter of Charles Alexander and Florence Elizabeth (Eisenhood) Artzt.  She married George W. Eastburg on June 17, 1965 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He survives as do two daughters, Beth Mills of Austin, Texas and Kathy Eastburg of Galesburg.  Susan is also survived by her beloved 6 grandchildren, Kristy (Jesse) Sperry, Tiffany (John) Pecsi, Aliex (Emlie) Stall, Joseph Stall, John Stall, and Bryant Ellis; and four great grandchildren, Justis Sperry, Tyler Sperry, Violet Stall, and Levi Stall.  Along with her parents, Susan was preceded in death by one son, Eric Stall, Jr. of November 9, 2015; one brother, Alec Artzt and Sandy Gambulos. 

Susan graduated from high school in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  She worked for 30 years as an assembler at Maytag in Galesburg.  Susan enjoyed gardening and working in her yard and spending time with her friends, many of them from Maytag.  She loved being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.  Susan enjoyed helping others and volunteering her time.  She belonged to the Red Hat Society and could always be found with a cup of coffee in her hand. 

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg with funeral services following at 1:30 p.m.  Pastor Andrew Wingo will officiate.  Cremation will be accorded following services.  Memorials may be made in Susan’s memory to Knox County Humane Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
