Mary K. Meeker, age 89, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 9:27 P.M. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born on August 17, 1933 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence and Mildred (Smith) Nichols. She attended and graduated from the former Corpus Christi High School. She married Vern T. Meeker on August 21, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2018.

Surviving is a daughter: Nancy J. Meeker of Washington, Illinois; four grandchildren: Richard J. (Kelley) Meeker of Washington, Illinois, Kassandre Woodworth of Knoxville, Illinois, Kathryn (Brett) Kettler of Aledo, Illinois, and Tim (Emily) Robison of Knoxville, Illinois; nine grandchildren; her siblings: Sharon Grabill of Galesburg, Illinois, Donna (Larry) Palmer of Galesburg, Illinois, and Richard (Ruth Ann) Nichols of Cambridge, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Kathryn Robison, a great-granddaughter, Bryley and a sister, Delores “Dee” Welch.

For a short time, she worked for the former Fidelity Federal Bank in Galesburg, Illinois, then with her daughter at the former Nancy’s Answering Service in Galesburg, Illinois. She enjoyed doing crafts, her favorite plastic canvas and loved to cook.

Visitation will be held on from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with a eulogy service beginning at 5:00 PM.
