Robert Bruce Bindewald, 69, of Quincy, Illinois, died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday March 5, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

Bob was born August 24, 1953 in Fort Madison, Iowa the son of James Alfred and Betty Ann (Adams) Bindewald. He enlisted in the US Navy on April 27, 1972 serving in Vietnam aboard the USS Meyerkord and was honorably discharged on August 12, 1975. 

After the military Bob moved around and settled in Florida for many years where he embraced his love for woodworking and worked as a carpenter and became known as “Bar Top Bob” due to the numerous bar tops he built in the area. 

Bob is survived by his mother, Betty Bindewald of Macomb, Illinois; one sister, Lisa (Teddy) McConnell of Carthage, Illinois and his dear friend whom he called “brother” Jim “Buff” Buffington of Osage Beach, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services with military rites will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 at Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to 2×4’s for Hope.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
