$38 Million Budget Proposed for City of Monmouth’s FY 2023-2024

Just over a $38 million budget has been proposed for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 in the City of Monmouth, which begins May 1st, explains City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

“We have just over a $38 million budget proposed. That is about a 24% increase over this year and it is a direct result of the many grants that we have recently received. We were able to take those state and federal funds and budget them for public infrastructure improvements. In fact, we have about $7.5 million worth of capital projects scheduled for this coming fiscal year. The rest of the budget is relatively the same. It is a status quo. There is no increase or decrease in staffing levels or delivery of municipal services. The budget does include the replacement of lawn mowers, which is every two years. We also had sufficient funds to purchase a new leaf vacuum machine.”

A public hearing for the 2023-2024 budget will be held on Monday, April 17th ahead of the next Monmouth City Council meeting.
