Mr. Burl E. Anderson, 84, of Galesburg, Illinois died 8:12 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at his daughter’s home in Galesburg.

He was born June 5, 1938, in Galesburg to Burl A. and Roxane (Stevens) Anderson. He married Rita K. Maxwell on June 30, 1957, in Rio, Illinois.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Rita Anderson of Galesburg, three sons, Bruce Anderson, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ben Anderson of Indianapolis, and Tim (and Julie) Anderson of Louisville, Kentucky, four daughters, Tami (and Joseph) Wallace of Riegelwood, North Carolina, Jodi (and Robert) Burke of Galesburg, Amy Anderson of Riegelwood, and Jennifer (and Todd) Buske of Schertz, Texas, a brother, Wendell Anderson of Inez, Kentucky, a sister, Penny Gerald of Erie, Illinois, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lisa Smith.

Burl graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957. He worked for Maytag Manufacturing Company for over 31 years and retired in 1989. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. Burl had a creative mind for inventions and was an environmentalist. He had solar panels, windmills and enjoyed using science with his gardening. He also enjoyed working with his hands building model airplanes. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

As Burl requested, cremation will be accorded. A memorial service in North Carolina will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Right to Life. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel are assisting the family with local arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
