Over the past seven years, Lieutenant Joe Bratcher with the Monmouth Police Department has conducted ALICE training sessions to the local school districts and has now expanded those sessions with several businesses, with the latest being Midwest Bank. City of Monmouth Communications Director Ken Helms shares how the training provides members of the community with skills to make decisions in a dangerous situation:
“ALICE training is an all encompassing response to an active threat. It helps teach the employees and the schools, basically anybody who receives it on what to do and what options they have available if there is ever an active shooter or some kind of other active threat there. That program has been implemented and taught from the Police Department. Anyone can contact Lieutenant Joe Bratcher at the Police Department to discuss what the training involves and whether that might be something that might be a good option for them.”
ALICE stands for Alert, Lock Down, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.
