Dr. Tamara Smith with MDH Obstetrics & Gynecology Shares Advances in Technology Greatly Benefit Patients

Share

HealthCare is continuously changing, especially on the technological side. McDonough District Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology, Doctor Tamara Smith, shares how those advances have benefited patients:

“For an obstetrician and gynecologist, on the obstetrics side, we have our ultra-stenographers and our ultrasound machines that are great. We have invested in some very expensive equipment so that it is refined and can pick up anomalies and other abnormalities. As for gynecology, we do a lot of laparoscopic minimally invasive surgeries. Patients can go home the same day or spend the night and have an easier recovery.”

Along with advancements in less invasive surgery techniques, telehealth has really taken off in the medical world, allowing doctors to check on patients routinely.
