Homicide Investigation Underway After Body Found in Illinois River

The death of a woman recovered from the Illinois River near Peoria last month is new being ruled a homicide.  Tamara Schaidle was discovered in the river March 21st.  An autopsy initially showed she died from drowning.  Later, the Peoria County Coroner concluded that the 58-year-old received injuries consistent with blunt force trauma and drowning by another, making this case a homicide investigation.  Detectives determined Schaidle was last seen walking on March 20th from Morton Street into the Constitution Garden Park near the Dan Fogelberg Memorial.
