IDOR Reminds that the Deadline to File Income Tax Returns is Tuesday, April 18th

The Illinois Department of Revenue is reminding taxpayers that the filing deadline is rapidly approaching. State and federal income tax returns are due April 18th, and by the sound of it, plenty of people still need to file.

“So far we have received 3.5 million returns this year, which is 57% of the 6.2 million returns we would expect to process in 2023. Close to 95% of those returns have been filed electronically.”

Department of Revenue Spokesperson Maura Kownacki says the quickest way to get your refund is to e-file an error free return and opt for direct deposit. Taxpayers with simple returns can file for free at: https://mytax.illinois.gov/_/.
