For the first time in program history, an Illinois State Women’s basketball star is headed to the WNBA.

Monday night, Bethany, Illinois native Paige Robinson was drafted in the third round by the Dallas Wings.

The Central Illinois native, coming off winning the player of the year in the Missouri Valley Conference, said getting drafted is an honor of a lifetime.

In just one year with the Redbirds, Robinson was also the Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-M-V-C, and All-Newcomer Team selection.

She led the Redbirds last year with 18 points per game and three assists.

With the draft selection, Robinson became the first player drafted out of the Missouri Valley Conference in eight years.
