L. Belle Glass, 72, of Oneida, formerly of Galesburg, died at 6:01 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born March 2, 1951, in Doniphan, Missouri, the daughter of Roy J. and Mary Lou (Swank) Morlan. She married Edwin M. Glass on August 13, 1974, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2020, after 46 years of marriage.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Morlan of Wataga; six sons, Martin (Janina) Glass of Bettendorf, Iowa, Aaron McElroy of Plymouth, Illinois, Matthew (Charma) Glass of Galesburg, Benjamin (Dawnelle) Glass of Woodhull, and Casey (Sara) Glass and Damien Glass, both of Galesburg; five daughters, Heidi Austin of Solon, Iowa, Catherine (David) Fairbanks of Riverside, Wyoming, Elizabeth (Patrick) Melton of Hanna City, Julie (Aaron) Underwood of St. George, Utah, and Melissa (James) Espinoza of Greeley, Colorado; 30 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, with another expected any day; and two sisters, Linda Ronk and Janet Grover, both of Galesburg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father; an infant daughter, Cynthia Grace; an infant granddaughter, Nataleigh; a brother, Jerry Morlan; and a sister, Cheryl Swanson.
Belle was a nurse who worked at several area nursing homes. She will mainly be remembered for raising and caring for her family of 11 children. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Belle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. Those unable to attend services may access the live stream via the funeral home website or the funeral home’s Facebook page.
