Mark A. Johnson, 63, of Abingdon, died at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born Sunday, August 30, 1959, in Galesburg, the son of Emil E. and Janice I. (Wilson) Johnson Sr. He married Theresa L. Walker on March 10, 1984, in Abingdon.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Theresa; sons, Cody (Kellie) Johnson and Kiley Johnson, both of Tuckerman, Arkansas; a daughter, Shandi (Chris) Cunningham of Abingdon; seven grandchildren, Zane, Adrian, Gunner, Tyler, Alec, Axton, and Vaida; brothers, Tony (Joetta) Johnson and Emil (Cyndi) Johnson Jr., both of Abingdon; sisters, Martha (Don) Lewis of Abingdon, Beverly (Todd) Fawcett of Kirkwood, and Peggy (Jim) Ferguson of Logansport, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Natalie; and a sister, Janet Pringle.

Mark worked as a farmhand his entire life. He was raised and lived in the Abingdon area before moving to Arkansas 25 years ago. He and Theresa returned to Abingdon this past December.

Mark was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandkids.

Visitation will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Greenbush Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Grimm officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
