Boley wins for second straight week

MONMOUTH, ILL. (04/12/2023) With career best performances on Friday, Monmouth College sophomores Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) and Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) were named Midwest Conference Track & Field Performers of the Week on Tuesday.

Boley won the women’s field performer of the week award for the second straight week. On Friday at the IC True Blue Invite in Jacksonville, Boley won both the discus and the shot put. She improved her MWC leading mark in the discus at 43.63m (143’2″) and also improved her MWC best mark in the shot put at 12.27m (40′ 3.25″).

The discus throw is a new career high for the sophomore and ranks 11th nationally in D3. Boley leads the MWC by over 2m (8’3″) in the discus and leads by nearly a foot in the shot put over teammate Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois).

Newton ran a career-best 1:56.78 in the 800m at the IC True Blue Invite on Friday. Newton finished third on Saturday and his time missed being a top-10 time in Monmouth history by just 0.20 seconds. He ranks second in the MWC in the 800 this season with the leader at 1:56.69, just .09 seconds faster.

Newton also ran on the Monmouth 4x400m relay team that finished in 3:25.21 on Saturday, ranking as the top time in the MWC so far this season by 2.5 seconds.

The Scots head to the Beloit Relays in Beloit, Wisconsin this weekend with an 11 a.m. start on Saturday.
