Monmouth Native Krista Larson Talks Release of her Debut Novel ‘Less Is More’

Monmouth native Krista Larson has one less item on her bucket list as she has published her debut novel ‘Less Is More.’ Based on true events, Larson takes readers through a life of love, loss, humor, joy, and a hoarding disorder:

“It is based on true events of my mother’s life. My mother suffered from a hoarding disorder for about the last 20 years of her life. She passed away in April of 2020. There were two reasons I wanted to write this for my brother and I; it is dedicated to him, Kirk Gasgill, he lives here in Monmouth and I wanted to give my mother a happier ending than she really had. She had a terminal illness and she ran out of time, so she really didn’t get the help that she needed and in the book she does get some help. It is a little happier legacy for her.”

Throughout the process of getting her first novel published, Larson found out becoming a self-published author was a learning curve, but through local friends and businesses, the novel came to light. ‘Less Is More’ can be purchased locally at the Wordsmith Bookshoppe in Galesburg.
