Vernon Eugene Hunborg, age 57 of Delavan, Illinois died at 12:05 PM on Monday, April 17, 2023 in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on September 7, 1964 in Rockford, Illinois the son of Ronald E. and Diane (Hotchkiss) Hunborg. He married Rodette “Cissy” Driffil on August 28, 1996 in St. Roberts, Missouri.

Surviving is his wife Cissy Driffil of Delavan, Illinois; his children: Alena Hunborg of Virginia and Austin (Courtney) of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; his mother, Diane Head of Fall River Mills, California; his siblings: Donna Hunborg of Crestwood, Kentucky, Carl Hunborg of Findlay, Illinois, Harry Pizano of Redding, California and Thomas Hunborg of Galesburg, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

He made his career serving in the United States Army for twenty-one years, beginning in July of 1986. He retired as a combat engineer. He enjoyed RC cars, fishing, playing video games and off roading.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Military rites will be conducted by the Knox County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the VFW.
