Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards Reminds Motorists to Slow Down and Share the Road this Planting Season

Share

With the spring season here, farmers will be in the fields, which means large, slow-moving equipment will be on the roadways. Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards reminds motorists to slow down and share the road:

“That is big, big equipment that is moving and late hours. Particularly when tillage starts up through planting, so take a little bit of time. When you see those flashing yellow lights up there, slow way down and give them some room, just be aware of the fact they are out there. They do have the right to be on the highways, expect for 34 going to Galesburg, but the rest of the highways, if they need to transport to a field, they are well within legal rights to do that. Have a little patience, don’t be in a big hurry, don’t pass in a no passing zone, and you will get where you are going.”

Farmers, remember to transport safely, make sure anyone working or that is around the farm is safe, take breaks, and inspect your fields and surrounding areas this planting season.
