Congressman Sorensen to Host Town Hall

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) will host a town hall with residents of Illinois’ 17th Congressional District. Constituents will be allowed to participate over the phone, and a recording of the event will be made available afterward. 

Details of the telephone town hall are as follows: 

WHEN: Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 6:30 – 7:30 PM CST 
 HOW:  To participate in Congressman Sorensen’s town hall, constituents can dial 833-380-0743 at any point during the event. 
 RSVP:  Constituents can RSVP and ensure they receive a call to join the town hall by filling out the following form. Participants must RSVP at least one hour in advance to receive a call. 

During the call, Sorensen will speak directly to residents of Central and Northwestern Illinois about the issues they care about most, including creating sustainable, good-paying jobs, making communities safer and healthier, and lowering costs for families. The telephone town hall format will allow Congressman Sorensen to be more accessible to his nearly 750,000 constituents spread out over 6,933 square miles. 

Congressman Eric Sorensen is the first openly LGBTQ person elected to represent Illinois at the federal level and is a member of the New Democrat Coalition. He serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
