Illinois Pork Producers Association Reacts To Supreme Court Prop 12 Decision

Recently, the Supreme Court chose to uphold California’s Proposition 12 which sets new housing requirements for egg-laying hens, pork, and calves raised for veal sold in the state. Mike Borgic, Director of Membership for the Illinois Pork Producers Association, says that Supreme Court’s decision was “disappointing news”.

“At this point, we (National Pork Producers Council) are reviewing the decision and looking at different avenues just to see what else is available to the pork industry and trying to figure out the next steps.”

In a release from the National Pork Producers Council, Scott Hays, NPPC President says the organization “will continue to fight for our nation’s pork farmers and American families against misguided regulations.”
