Raising $70,000 is just the beginning for the Monmouth Community Fund, which has now unlocked a matching grant from the Twomey Foundation, Galesburg Community Foundation, and the United Way of Greater Warren County. Applications for the first grant cycle are now open for any charitable organization including non-profits, churches, schools, and units of government, explains Advisory Board Member Joel Newman:
“It is an endowed fund, meaning we have this dollar amount that is going to be invested and from that investment, we are able to reinvest that into the Monmouth community through a certain amount of grants. Our grant cycle is now open and we are taking applications through June 9th. We just also partnered with the Roseville Community Fund for mini grants for the Monmouth-Roseville School District. Teachers can apply up to a $500 mini grant to help with special events within their classroom or any classroom needs that they might have.”
Monmouth is the fifth Community Fund through the Galesburg Community Foundation to be established, following Roseville, Alexis, Williamsfield, and Knoxville.
