Monmouth-Roseville Titan Boys and Girls Track Teams Enjoying Postseason Success

The Monmouth-Roseville boys and girls track programs have had a successful past week as they start to wrap up competition for the 2022-2023 school year. On the girls side, Junior thrower Carmyn Huston competed in the class 2A State Track and Field finals at Eastern Illinois University over the weekend. Huston participated in the shotput, where she took home a 7th place medal for the Lady Titans program, the second straight year with a state medal for Huston. She brought home a 5th place medal from Charleston last spring. Titan girls track coach Don Luper talked about Carmyn’s weekend on the famous blue track in Charleston.

The Titans boys track team competed in their sectional meet last Wednesday, where they would take 4th place out of 15 schools overall at Geneseo High School. After claiming the Three Rivers Conference team championship by 25 points over the runnerup on May 12th, the boys program posted a plethora of stellar performances at the class 2A sectional meet in Geneseo. Boys Head Coach Kevin Ferry is proud of the the recent accomplishments of the Monmouth-Roseville boy’s team.

Qualifying for this weekend’s IHSA Class 2A boys state finals for Monmouth-Roseville are both Ethan Davis and Trevor Snyder in both the shot put and discus events. The 4×200 meter relay team of Charlie Pullen, Maddox Clark, Jekxel Rivera and Jerome Jackson will run in Friday’s preliminaries. Jackson will be busy this weekend besides running a leg on the 4×200, he will also be competing individually in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and long jump event. The Titans will head down to Eastern Illinois University on Thursday, to begin class 2A preliminaries on Friday.
