Roseville Farmer Shares His Crop Progress

This week’s Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service reported farmers across Illinois have planted 73 percent of their corn and 66 percent of their soybeans. Roseville farmer Andy Huston shared his planting progress.

“Corns all done, we have a little bit of beans left to finish up. I did some crop scouting and all of our corn is emerging now,” said Huston. “Our earlier planted beans are starting to poke through, so it looks like we have a really nice stand coming. That’s what we hope for every spring.”

As of the May 8th Crop Progress and Condition Report, 17 percent of the state’s corn crop has emerged and 14 percent of soybeans have emerged.
