Dan Jay “D.J.” Allbright, 51, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 2:08 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Dan was born October 10, 1971 in Bellevue, New Jersey, the son of Donald Roth Allbright and Jeralyn Louise (Calhoun) Wood. Dan married Cristie Lyn Alderman on May 24, 2008 in Galesburg, Illinois. Dan is survived by his wife, Cristie, of Galesburg; his children, Tyler Allbright of Monmouth, Illinois, Dan Jay Allbright, Jr. of Bloomington, Illinois, Payton Sheckler and Jackson Sheckler both of Galesburg; and three grandchildren, Alexis Allbright, Mackenzie Allbright, and Liam Allbright. Dan is also survived by two brothers, Myron Roth (Charlotte) Allbright of Graham, North Carolina and Dale Alan Allbright of Galesburg; a half-sister, Susan Randall; and two stepsisters, Alisandra Wood and Dameann Hecht. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan worked for many years as a construction contractor. The past several years, he has worked a machinery boxer at Cornelius Renew in Monmouth. Dan was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a talented musician, playing the guitar and drums. Most of all, Dan loved being with his family and friends. He will be long remembered as a man with a larger-than-life heart and sense of humor. He never failed to make you smile. He gave the best hugs and had a generous spirit.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Cherry Street Bier Garden, 57 S. Cherry St., Galesburg, Illinois from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
