Jamieson Community Center Accepting Applications for their Back-to-School STARS Program

Share

Jamieson Community Center is accepting applications for their Students To Arrive Ready for School, or STARS, Program for families with children in kindergarten through 8th grade. In partnership with Community National Bank and area churches, Executive Director Nancy Mowen shares the items in need to fill the backpacks:

“They can either donate cash, which is greatly appreciated. I am anticipating like everything else, our cost per child is going to go up this year. I am thinking probably about $25 to sponsor a child for back to school. Or people can donate name brand supplies; Crayola crayons 24 count, Ticonderoga or Dixon #2 pencils, we need the spiral notebooks, wide ruled, those are good general things. Pocket folders are another thing that people can contribute. There are many other things on the list, but those are all things that we need in large quantities.”

Applications are being accepted through July 21st. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed the second week in August.
