Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat Reminds Residents Fireworks are Illegal in Illinois

Share

With the Fourth of July weekend here, Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat reminds residents that fireworks are illegal in Illinois:

“They are illegal in Illinois and definitely illegal in Monmouth, there is a city ordinance that prohibits the use of fireworks, they are limited to the novelty fireworks, which are the sparklers, the smoke bombs, and things like that. Just want to make sure that if you do go that route to get some of the fireworks, just a reminder there are thousands and thousands of fires that are started every year by fireworks and I am not just talking here in Monmouth, I am talking about the entire country, not to mention the injuries they can cause.”

Chief Rexroat and Captain Crag Cozadd also advise against shooting illegal fireworks with how dry it has been as you are unable to control where they land.
