The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees welcomed the newest member, WIU Alumnus and former Illinois State Sen. Kirk Dillard, a partner in the Chicago office of one of the world’s largest law firms, Locke Lord LLP, of Chicago, IL, to the Board at the June 8 meeting. The Board also recognized outgoing members Erik Dolieslager, of Quincy, IL, and Patrick (Mark) Twomey of Macomb.
At the June 8 Board of Trustees meeting, trustees approved the University’s Fiscal Year 2024 preliminary spending plan of $211.2 million. The plan must be prepared prior to July 1 for submission to the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Illinois State Legislature and the Governor.
In other business, the Board approved tenure for 13 faculty members (see separate letter at wiu.edu/news from President Huang), the Summit League exit fee and the presented capital reserves for non-indentured entities.
In addition, the Board elected officers for July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. Carin Stutz was elected chair; Greg Aguilar was elected vice chair; and Cody Cornell was elected secretary. Student Trustee Cody Cornell, a senior agriculture major from Columbia (IL), was elected by the student body to continue to serve as Western’s Board of Trustees student representative from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Sept 27-28 on the WIU-Quad Cities campus. A Board retreat will be held Oct. 13 in the University Union Heritage Room on the Macomb campus.
