Western Illinois University, Leatherneck Athletics, and the Leatherneck Club have announced the 34th Annual Purple and Gold Gala will be held on Saturday, August 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the University Union in Macomb.

While Western Hall’s basketball court is being refinished for the 2023-24 sport seasons, the gala will return to a familiar location on the WIU campus. The Grand Ballroom is currently undergoing some renovations and the gala will be one of the first events to take place in the updated space.

“I sincerely appreciate the hard work the entire committee is putting in to make certain this is the premier fundraising event for Leatherneck Athletics this fall,” Paul A. Bubb, Director of Athletics said. “Under the leadership of co-chairs Jerry Cremer and John Biernbaum, I know we will have a great event.”

The Purple and Gold Gala features a social and silent auction, dinner featuring a variety of food stations based upon some of the favorites of the Leatherneck coaching staff, and a live auction. Items available through past galas have included autographed sports memorabilia, unique travel and team experiences with the Leathernecks, special vacation packages, and a variety of gift items fit for any Leatherneck fan. Beginning on July 17 a list of auction items may be seen under the Purple and Gold tab on the goleathernecks.com website.

Reservations may be made by completing the online reservation form or contacting the athletic offices at (309) 298-1190, Monday thru Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If you have an item you would like to donate for the auction, please complete the auction donation form.
