Alexis Youth Baseball Association Enjoys Successful Summer

Share

The six teams of various age groups that play in the Alexis Youth Baseball Association had great success in the Tri-County League this summer. The league is made up of towns that are in the Warren, Mercer and Rock Island counties. Two of the six United teams took home first place trophies and two others garnered 2nd place hardware. The United Red 11-12 year old B team and the 9-10 year old C team captured their league titles. The United Black B and United 7-8 year D team were both runners up in their league. One of those first place teams, the United Red C squad, defeated one of the three Aledo teams in the league 8-1 on Monday night in Reynolds, Illinois. United’s Cameron Stockdale, Coolidge Willis and Hank Caslin all had one hit with Willis’ triple and Stockdale’s double driving in two runs apiece. Ryker Toops scored a pair of runs for United, as well. Six different players scored at least one run in the game, making a total team effort. Even more impressive, the pitching duo of Cameron Stockdale and Jake Johnson combined to hold Aledo to two hits in five innings, while combining for 12 strikeouts and handing out just one base on balls. Head coach Ryan Stockdale said the entire season was a memorable one.
