SkillsUSA Provides the Next Generation of Workforce Members with Personal, Workplace and Technical Skills Grounded in Academics

Share

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industries working together to provide the next generation of workers with skills for a variety of occupations. Galesburg High School educator and SkillsUSA instructor Corbyn Wascher explains the skills that are gained among local students:

“SkillsUSA is a training program, an organization similar to what FFA is, except it is more of the vocational side. What it does is it gives them a lot of job skills. We reach out to community members to ask what is missing. Students can pursue different competition areas in all the vocational fields, in everything from construction to t-shirt design to even audio radio production.”

SkillsUSA serves more than 300,000 middle-school, high-school, and college students preparing for careers.
