Susan Allene Behrens, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 12:40 p.m. at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
Susan was born August 14, 1950 in Galesburg, the daughter of H. Allen and Marianna M. (Nesbit) McOlgan. Susan married Ted A. Behrens on August 13, 1977 at the First United Methodist Church, Galesburg. Susan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ted of Galesburg; two sons, Sean (Michelle) Stegall of Cary, North Carolina and William (Rachel) Behrens of Lincoln, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Emma Stegall and Michael Behrens. Susan is also survived by two brothers, Gregg (Deborah) McOlgan of Springfield, Illinois and Kevin McOlgan of Forest Park, Illinois; four nieces; one nephew; a close cousin, Marian Harkness. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Kathleen Kay; and her step-father, Homer Don Seitz.
Susan worked for fifteen years in the office at Lutheran Social Services in Galesburg. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies, and loved her cats. Susan enjoyed cleaning and more than anything, she loved spending time with her family. She had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Susan, thank you for taking your family on a wild wonderful ride, and making the family laugh along the way. You will be truly missed. Rest in peace my love. -Ted.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
